Hey guys,
I just wanted to stop in and thank you all for the feedback, both this last batch and all the comments along the way. It has been interesting to see how you responded to this story, which was something of a departure from my usual work. I really appreciate all of your thoughts and opinions, and the time it took for you to leave them.
That said, there are more than a few of you who seem both surprised and even angry that I've ended this where I have, and even more who appear convinced there may be a sequel in the future. All I can say is, I ended the story where I did because I had finished the story I always planned to tell. I knew precisely where I was going, and the epilogue was conceived before I even started to write. This story was never about evil aliens or saving the world. It was about Liz, and her relationship to Max, and the way they reacted both separately and together to the crises in their lives, in every timeline. My response to questions about Max and the others all through this story has been, "this is about Liz", and my answer here is no different.
I have no intention of writing a sequel. I have nothing more to say. This story was created as a stand-alone, and I'm satisfied with the job I've done. I hope that you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. Once again, thank you for your feedback and encouragement throughout the process.
Em
